Football Game Preview: A.L. Brown Wonders vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls + How To Watch

The A.L. Brown Wonders will venture away from home to take on the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

A.L. Brown is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Central Cabarrus on Friday. The Wonders strolled past the Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 39-21.

A.L. Brown can attribute much of their success to Lemar Grier, who rushed for 128 yards and three TDs, and AJ Settles, who rushed for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. The Wonders are 3-1 when Grier posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: A.L. Brown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

A.L. Brown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gabriel Jackson and Mason Cook. Cook also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Hickory Ridge hadn't beaten Cox Mill on the road since September 18, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Ragin' Bulls narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Chargers 23-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ragin' Bulls.

A big part of Hickory Ridge's win came down to the chemistry between Braden Barberio and his top target Luke Untereker. Barberio rushed for 32 yards and one score while Untereker picked up 64 receiving yards and one TD.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Hickory Ridge, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Joshua Blackmon, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

A.L. Brown now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hickory Ridge, their record now sits at 3-4.

A.L. Brown strolled past Hickory Ridge in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wonders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
