Florence took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Jones, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Florence sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over South Jones on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won five contests in a row.

Rod Davis Jr. spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Florence's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Florence's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for South Jones, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.

Florence will have a chance to go back-to-back against South Jones: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
