Basketball Recap: Mays Drops Highest Score of Season Against Forest Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mays). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Forest Park Panthers 99-52. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.

Mays had a senior duo take command as Davenport Cox dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards and Germani Wilson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Cox a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Omari Barnes, who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Mays smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Jeremiah Amos and Derrick Green certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Amos put up 15 points and eight rebounds, while Green had 11 points and seven boards. Amos is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Mays' victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5. As for Forest Park, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Mays wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 101-41 win against M.L. King on the 13th. As for Forest Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-30 loss against Jackson on the 13th.
