Volleyball Preview: Northside Grizzlies vs. Central Tigers

Northside is 9-1 against Central since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Northside Grizzlies are on the road again to play the Central Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Northside earned a 3-1 win over Rogers.

Northside had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-23, 29-27, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Central waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hurricane.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 25-14.

Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Sydney Crowder, who had seven digs and five aces, and Leah Chavis, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces Crowder has posted since back in August.

Central was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in three consecutive games.

Northside has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6-2 record this season. As for Central, their record now sits at 14-2-1.
