Cumberland waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Heritage Hawks 16-1. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Cumberland got a massive performance out of Baya Carter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Carter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Millsap, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Heritage, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
Coming up, Cumberland will square off against Mt. Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Heritage, they will challenge Oakwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
