Baseball Recap: Monarch Find Success

Monarch came out on top against Denver South on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Coyotes walked away with a 9-5 win over the Ravens. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Coyotes also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Charlie Pearce made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Monarch: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ian Babcock, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Monarch's record now sits at 7-13. As for Denver South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Monarch will be playing in front of their home fans against Centaurus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver South, they will venture away from home to challenge Berthoud at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
