Meanwhile, Newkirk came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Ponca City with a sharp 10-4 win on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Grady Wood, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kyson Thiel was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Newkirk's victory bumped their record up to 11-13-1. As for Tonkawa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-9.
