Butler and Myers Park are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Butler Bulldogs will face off against the Myers Park Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-32, which was the final score in Butler's tilt against Independence on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Patriots are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, Myers Park came up short against South Mecklenburg on Friday and fell 57-49.

Butler will have to keep a close watch on AJ Jamison and Ayo Awosanya, a pair of players who had a big impact on Myers Park's prior game. Jamison on his way to 23 points, while Awosanya en route to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks. What's more, Jamison also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josh Hines, who posted five points.

Butler's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Myers Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

Butler didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Myers Park in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, but they still walked away with a 90-84 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Myers Park's Elijah Strong, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Butler to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
