Softball Preview: McKeesport Tigers vs. Seton LaSalle Rebels
The McKeesport Tigers will challenge the Seton LaSalle Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
McKeesport managed to slip by Penn Hills the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. McKeesport came up short against Penn Hills on Wednesday, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.
McKeesport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessica Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Seton LaSalle beat West Mifflin 7-3 on Wednesday.
Layla Chapman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Chapman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Meadow Kenard and Cassidy Baxendell did most of the damage at the plate: Kenard scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Baxendell went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
McKeesport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Seton LaSalle, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
