Soccer Game Preview: Salesian vs. Cathedral

The Salesian Mustangs will challenge the Cathedral Phantoms at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Salesian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Bishop Amat on Saturday. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 1-0. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Mustangs couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Cathedral made sure to put some goals up on the board against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy on Friday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 5-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Phantoms, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Victor Aguiniga and Angel Sandres scored all five of Cathedral's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Salesian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8-1. As for Cathedral, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3-2 record this season.
