Baseball Recap: DeKalb Barons vs. Garrett Railroaders
After flying high against Garrett on Saturday, DeKalb came back down to earth. The DeKalb Barons suffered a tough 18-5 loss at the hands of the Garrett Railroaders on Saturday. DeKalb was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Garrett apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played.
Aydan Parr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.
On Garrett's side, Lucas Collins made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Collins was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other pitching news, Grant Byers looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
Back at the plate, Aiden Orth was incredible, going 5-for-6 with a home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Josh Hogle was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.
DeKalb's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Garrett, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeKalb will take on Fremont at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Garrett, they will be playing at home against Westview at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garrett is facing Westview at the right time seeing as Westview is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
