Softball Recap: Mira Mesa's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Mira Mesa can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Torrey Pines Falcons, sneaking past 3-2. This was payback for the Marauders, who suffered an 11-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brooklyn Haug spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Aria Phruksukarn was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Carla Murguia was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Mira Mesa's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Torrey Pines, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Mira Mesa will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Holtville at 3:30 p.m. on March 18th. Mira Mesa is facing Holtville at the right time seeing as Holtville is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Torrey Pines, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-2 defeat against La Costa Canyon on the 8th.
