Regina Dominican and Niles West are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Wolves at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Regina Dominican will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Regina Dominican had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Woodlands Academy on Thursday. The Panthers never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Volkers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Regina Dominican got a massive performance out of Izzie Christensen, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Olivia Fraterrigo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Regina Dominican always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodlands Academy only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, Niles West suffered their biggest loss since April 12th on Thursday. They came up short against Niles North, falling 11-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Niles West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Mendoza, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Regina Dominican's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Niles West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
Niles West's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Regina Dominican has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .533. It's a different story for Niles West, though, as they've only averaged .349. Will they be able to contain Regina Dominican's hitters?
Regina Dominican suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Niles West in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
