Softball Recap: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. Newport Harbor Sailors

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Capistrano Valley). They blew past the Newport Harbor Sailors 16-1 on Saturday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Nicole Anderson looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Micayla Turi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Madison McSorley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Capistrano Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
