The Hobart Brickies are taking a road trip to face off against the Andrean Fighting 59ers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hobart has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hobart came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-8 to Highland. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 17, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Riley Weber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Taylor Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Andrean faced Kankakee Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Fighting 59ers fell just short of the Kougars by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Fighting 59ers have suffered since May 18, 2024.
Aubrey Grasha was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those triples were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddy McCoy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Hobart's record now sits at 3-3. As for Andrean, their record is now 7-3.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hobart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Andrean struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hobart skirted past Andrean 5-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Brickies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting 59ers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
