Baseball Recap: Glades Central Has No Trouble Against Pahokee

Glades Central's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Pahokee Blue Devils 11-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the match before.

Glades Central let Edison Cruz and Damion Lopez run wild. Cruz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Lopez scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Cruz is becoming a predictor of Glades Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Mojica, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Glades Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Pahokee, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glades Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Glades Day at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st. Glades Day is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
