Softball Recap: Rosholt Takes a Loss

Rosholt extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-19 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Almond-Bancroft Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

As for Almond-Bancroft, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Almond-Bancroft, who have now won 15 games by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Almond-Bancroft's part, Riya Ceballos was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Ceballos was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Almond-Bancroft let Mya Dernbach and Aaliyah Newby run wild. Dernbach went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Newby went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Newby has posted since back in April. Lexi Carlton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Rosholt will challenge Pacelli at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Almond-Bancroft, they will be playing at home against Iola-Scandinavia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
