Recap: Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers vs. Lancaster Catholic Crusaders
The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They rang in the new year with a 64-55 win over Lancaster Catholic. Given Lampeter-Strasburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Lancaster Catholic is ranked 514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Lampeter-Strasburg to victory were Chase Smucker and Justin Glick. Smucker scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Glick scored 24 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smucker has scored at least 25% of Lampeter-Strasburg's points. Another player making a difference was Dean Herr, who scored eight points.
Lampeter-Strasburg's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lancaster Catholic, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lampeter-Strasburg will take on Octorara Area at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lancaster Catholic, they will be playing at home against Eastern Lebanon County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
