Baseball Recap: Hugo Comes Up Short

Hugo fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Ardmore on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 8-7. The Buffaloes' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Logan Allen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hugo is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Zane Allen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Hugo's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Ardmore, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

Hugo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-3 defeat against Durant on the 18th. As for Ardmore, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Thomas-Fay-Custer on the 18th.
