Basketball Recap: Republic County Buffaloes vs. Beloit Trojans
Republic County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the Beloit Trojans at home by a 49-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Trojans are ranked 123rd).
Despite the loss, Republic County still got an impressive performance from Avery Stindt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. What's more, Stindt also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Kylie Stone was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Republic County was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beloit only posted four assists.
It was another big night for Cassandra Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards for Beloit. With that strong performance, Thompson is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Budke, who posted eight points in addition to 13 boards and six blocks.
Republic County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Beloit, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Republic County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-42 loss against Washington County on the 6th. As for Beloit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-43 defeat against Phillipsburg on the 6th.
