Baseball Recap: Dunedin Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Dunedin can now relate to. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tarpon Springs Spongers on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Spongers: they've now lost three in a row.

Colton Beard was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dunedin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armando Monday, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Dunedin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Tarpon Springs, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-14.

Dunedin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tarpon Springs, they will take on Calvary Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spongers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
