Softball Recap: White Plains Wins Going Away Against North Rockland

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ursuline, White Plains was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the North Rockland Raiders with a sharp 7-1 win. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alexis Tighe was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Tighe was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, White Plains let Neela Older and Ava Ritterman run wild. Older went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Ritterman went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Emily Anastacio was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

White Plains lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

The victory got White Plains back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Plains will host New Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Huguenots at the right time seeing as the Huguenots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for North Rockland, they will face off against Mahopac at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
