Baseball Game Preview: Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils vs. Penns Valley Area Rams

The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils will face off against the Penns Valley Area Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellwood-Antis will be strutting in after a victory while Penns Valley Area will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Bellwood-Antis needed a bit of extra time to put away Moshannon Valley. They won by a run and slipped past the Black Knights/Damsels 4-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Black Knights/Damsels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Zach Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Curtis Shedlock looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Dorminy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Penns Valley Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Mount Union, falling 6-0. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly six runs.

Bellwood-Antis' victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Penns Valley Area, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
