Volleyball Game Preview: Spearfish Spartans vs. Brandon Valley Lynx

Spearfish is 0-10 against Brandon Valley since October of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Spartans will take on the Lynx at 9:00 a.m.

Spearfish is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Harrisburg, who was ranked first at the time (Spearfish was ranked 24th). The Spartans fell 2-0 to the Tigers on Friday.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Brandon Valley waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Scoopers by a score of 2-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Brandon Valley took both sets by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-14.

Spearfish's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Brandon Valley, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Spearfish came up short against Brandon Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
