Basketball Recap: Campbell County Takes a Loss

Campbell County was the 66-64 winner over Heritage when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Campbell County Cougars fell 59-48 to the Heritage Mountaineers on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Campbell County lost, don't look at Luke Browning. Despite the final result, he posted 20 points and eight boards. Browning is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Cox, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Campbell County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 36.2% in those games and 27.5% outside of them. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 19-9 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campbell County will host Varsity Opponent at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Heritage, they will face off against Lenoir City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
