Football Recap: El Capitan Skates Past Monte Vista with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Capitan). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 38-0 victory over the Monte Vista Monarchs. The win continues a trend for the Vaqueros in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won six in a row.

El Capitan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Castillo led the charge by rushing for 89 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Copp, who rushed for 38 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: El Capitan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

El Capitan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Spencer Chastang.

El Capitan now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Monte Vista, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Coincidentally, El Capitan and Monte Vista will both be playing West Hills the next time they take the field. The Vaqueros will head out to face the Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Monarchs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
