Football Preview: Perkins-Tryon Demons vs. Sulphur Bulldogs
The Perkins-Tryon Demons will square off against the Sulphur Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Friday, Perkins-Tryon blew past Webster, posting a 55-14 victory on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.
Wyatt Atkinson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 67 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. He didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended two passes. Braiton Applegate was in the mix too, providing Perkins-Tryon with a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Perkins-Tryon's defense and their nine sacks. It was truly a group effort as Ethan Anderson, Applegate, and Applegate picked up two apiece.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Sulphur at home against Cache on Friday as the squad secured a 62-7 win. Given Sulphur's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Cache is ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sulphur wouldn't let Cache keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Madden Duck was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.
Perkins-Tryon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Sulphur, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.
