Baseball Recap: Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams Comes Up Short

Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 20-7 to the Intermountain Christian Lions. The Marauders were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.

William Hunt stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Nicolas Bua was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for Intermountain Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Considering they have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Intermountain Christian's side, Wyatt Furze made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Furze was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stratton Humphreys, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Reist, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams is set to square off against their familiar foe Maeser Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Intermountain Christian will challenge rival Merit Preparatory Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
