Volleyball Recap: Stagg Takes a Loss

The Stagg Delta Kings came up short against the Tokay Tigers on Monday and fell 3-1. The Delta Kings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Stagg ultimately came up short, they really made Tokay work, particularly in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 17-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Despite the loss, Stagg saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evan Sun had 19 digs, 12 kills, and one block. Sun has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Angelo Lagrimas, who had five digs and two blocks.

Tokay can attribute much of their success to Ethan Presley Vang, who had 15 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Presley Vang has posted since back in March.

Stagg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Tokay, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Stagg is set to square off against their familiar foe McNair at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Tokay will take on rival Chavez at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
