Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Mccoy Williams and Julian Tweedy Lead Cary Academy to Victory

Cary Academy hadn't beaten Covenant Day on the road since January 6, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Chargers walked away with a 54-46 victory over the Lions. This was payback for the Chargers, who suffered a 59-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cary Academy was led to victory by Julian Tweedy and McCoy Williams. Tweedy dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Williams is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Loss or not, Covenant Day got some senior leadership from Christian Montgomery and Luke Thompson. The win made it two in a row for Cary Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Covenant Day, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-6.
