Trigg County hasn't had much luck against Caldwell County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Trigg County will square off against Caldwell County at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Saturday, Trigg County got the win against Hopkins County Central by a conclusive 14-4. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Ty Gootee looked comfortable as he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Aaden Allen was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Bentley Reynolds was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Trigg County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hopkins County Central only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caldwell County). They put the hurt on Henderson County with a sharp 14-5 victory on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Ari Wells made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Wells was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.5 RBI per game.
In other batting news, Drew Stevens and Luke Parker did most of the damage at the plate: Stevens scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Parker scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Westin King, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Caldwell County's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Trigg County, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Trigg County came up short against Caldwell County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Can Trigg County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
