Soccer Game Preview: Cardinal Gibbons vs. Pembroke Pines Charter

The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs will venture away from home to challenge the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cardinal Gibbons' defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Westminster Christian out 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Chiefs were the better team in the second half.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Mia Conard, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Pembroke Pines Charter made sure to put some goals up on the board against Northeast on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 8-0 victory. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pembroke Pines Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they pushed their record up to 6-4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
