Soccer Game Preview: George Wythe vs. Giles

The George Wythe Maroons will square off against the Giles Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Giles will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: George Wythe extended their winning streak to six on Friday. The Maroons were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Galax.

George Wythe hit the Maroon Tide with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ava Ferguson (2), June Morrison (2), Abby Berry (2), and Hannah Repass.

Meanwhile, Giles entered their tilt with Fort Chiswell last Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 4-0 shutout.

George Wythe's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four matches. As for Giles, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
