Preview: Redeemer Christian Lions vs. First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles
Two dominant players in Andrew Parker and Ta'Bryant Wooden are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Redeemer Christian Lions will be playing at home against the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Redeemer Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Warner Christian Academy, taking the game 61-48. The victory was just what Redeemer Christian needed coming off of a 73-46 loss in their prior contest.
Redeemer Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Davis Lehman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Beau Suarez, who scored 26 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Suarez posted eight or more assists. Patrick Miller-Edwards was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, First Assembly Christian Academy can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They breezed by Northside Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 68-21. The victory was nothing new for First Assembly Christian Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
First Assembly Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wooden, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Wooden hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Quintin Roberts, who scored eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Redeemer Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Redeemer Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like First Assembly Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.6 rebounds per game.
