Basketball Recap: Linden Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Linden ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They escaped with a win against the Newark Collegiate Academy Panthers by the margin of a single free throw, 64-63. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won three matches in a row.

Jekhi Burnam was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Drejaj, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.

Linden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Linden has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-1.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Linden Tigers challenge the Roselle Catholic Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newark Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
