Softball Recap: Montrose Comes Up Short

Montrose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 14-11 to the Millington Cardinals. Even if the Rams couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Emma Sjobolom was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those runs were her first of the season. Rachel Hillard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Millington, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Montrose will venture away from home to take on Byron at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Millington, they will head out on the road to face off against Adams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Highlanders will have lost four straight heading into Saturday's game.
