Volleyball Recap: Rampart Falls Despite Big Games from Brady Simonis and Keaton Klich

After flying high against Coronado on Tuesday, Rampart came back down to earth. The Rams fell 3-1 to the Discovery Canyon Thunder on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

While Rampart had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Rampart had strong showings from Keaton Klich, who had 15 digs and four assists, and Brady Simonis, who had 16 kills and nine digs. Simonis has been hot, having posted six or more kills the last eight times he's played.

Rampart moved to 11-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Discovery Canyon, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rampart will square off against rival Lutheran at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Discovery Canyon is set to face off against their familiar foe Sand Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
