Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Denton's Third in Last Four Outings

Denton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Eagle Mountain on Saturday. The Broncos' pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 10-0 shutout. The Broncos not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th (when they won 17-1).

Diego Medina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Denton is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-13-2 otherwise. Medina was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Medina wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Turner, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Turner a new career-high. Another was Derek Perez, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Denton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Denton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-15-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
