Baseball Game Preview: Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors vs. Stanton Blue Devils

The Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors will face off against the Stanton Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Covenant School of Jacksonville nor Stanton posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Ryne Fennell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Stanton and Mandarin meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Stanton might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-2 to Mandarin, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Stanton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gio Cruz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Stanton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. Covenant School of Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Stanton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Covenant School of Jacksonville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game.
