Baseball Game Preview: Sarasota Sailors vs. Alonso Ravens

For the second straight game, Sarasota will face off against Alonso. The Sailors will be playing at home against the Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sarasota 2.4, Alonso 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sarasota heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Wednesday. They fell 3-0 to Alonso.

For Alonso's part, Julian Batista tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Batista also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Ravens are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Alvin Santiago was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Despaine, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sarasota's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-7-1. As for Alonso, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.
