Charlotte Catholic had won six straight home games dating back to last season and Garrett Nowlan did his part to make it seven on Friday. The Cougars came out on top against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers by a score of 28-21 for which the team can thank Nowlan, who rushed for 184 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Nowlan is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season.

Kings Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Tex Vaughn, who picked up 71 receiving yards and two TDs. The Mountaineers also got help from Xavier Hutchens, who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.

Charlotte Catholic's record is now 3-1. As for Kings Mountain, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Charlotte Catholic and Kings Mountain will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cougars are set to face off against their familiar foe Weddington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Kings Mountain will challenge rival Forestview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
