It's playoff time, and Roanoke Rapids had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their defense stepped up to hand the East Duplin Panthers a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering Roanoke Rapids have won 12 contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Roanoke Rapids' win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those 12 matchups. As for East Duplin, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9-2.

Coming up, Roanoke Rapids will venture away from home to face off against Franklin Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Academy will roll in looking for their 24th straight win, something Roanoke Rapids surely won't give up without a fight. East Duplin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
