Basketball Recap: Wapahani's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wapahani won the last time they faced Yorktown, and Kimber Abshear did her part to make sure it happened again. The Wapahani Raiders came out on top against the Yorktown Tigers by a score of 44-34 on Tuesday thanks in part to Abshear, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Bailey Carpenter was another key player, putting up nine points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Yorktown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexis Fields, who posted 13 points, and Rylie Johnson, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Wapahani, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Yorktown, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wapahani will take on Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wapahani's defense has only allowed 28.1 points per game this season, so Winchester Community's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Yorktown, they will face off against Mt. Vernon at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
