Basketball Recap: Gillespie Comes Up Short

Gillespie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Greenville Comets, falling 63-40. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Comets are ranked 186th).

Gillespie's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Greenville, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Gillespie will take on Lincolnwood in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville has already played their next matchup, a 64-48 loss against Wesclin on the 14th.
