Baseball Game Preview: Madison La Follette Lancers vs. Madison East Purgolders

The Madison La Follette Lancers will square off against the Madison East Purgolders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison La Follette has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 24.

Madison La Follette came up short against Janesville Craig on Thursday, falling 9-1.

Madison La Follette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Williams has brought in this season.

Janesville Parker hit Madison East with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Purgolders took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Purgolders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grant Haselow was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Donovan Hewitt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sage Kubisz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Madison La Follette's record is now 1-19-1. As for Madison East, their record now sits at 1-24.

Madison La Follette couldn't quite get it done against Madison East in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
