Soccer Game Preview: Spearfish vs. Rapid City Central

The Spearfish Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Rapid City Central Cobblers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Spearfish has given up an average of 3.9 goals per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Spearfish is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight matches last Thursday. They came up short against Douglas/Rapid City Christian, falling 6-0.

Meanwhile, Rapid City Central faced Stevens in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Cobblers lost 9-0 to the Raiders.

Spearfish's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for Rapid City Central, they now have a losing record of 4-5-2.

Spearfish skirted past Rapid City Central 3-2 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
