Central took a six-run  defeat the last time they faced off against Hampshire, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets skirted past the Whip-Purs  7-6. This was payback for the Rockets, who suffered  a  7-1  loss the last time these two teams met.
 Isabella Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than 11  strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Addison Beltran, who  went 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI.  Allie Botkin was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
The  win  got Central back to even at 8-8. As for Hampshire,  with the  defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4-1.
 Coming up, Central will be playing at home against Huntley  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6  runs per game  this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hampshire, they will challenge McHenry at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
