Boyd County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Russell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Boyd County will be strutting in after a victory while Russell will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a proper cat-fight when Boyd County took on Conner on Saturday. The Lions never let the Cougars get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Lions have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyli Kouns was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Henderson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Boyd County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conner only posted an OBP of .286.

Greenup County hit Russell with a seven-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 10-0 to the Musketeers. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Musketeers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Boyd County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Russell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Boyd County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Russell, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Boyd County's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.

Boyd County took their win against Russell in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
