Basketball Recap: Washington Piles Up the Points Against West Craven

Washington won the last time they faced West Craven and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Washington Pam Pack really took it to the West Craven Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-49 victory. Given the Pam Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Eagles are ranked 402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javon Williams led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 24 points and nine boards. The matchup was Williams' fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jarryn Payne, who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

West Craven's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Cherry Jr, who scored 19 points. That's the most points Cherry Jr has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre (DJ) Davis, who had ten points.

Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for West Craven, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Washington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 90-65 win against North Pitt on the 7th. As for West Craven, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-52 victory against Greene Central on the 7th.
