Basketball Recap: Clifton Cubs vs. West Trojans

If the Clifton Cubs were feeling good off their 55-20 takedown of the Whitney Wildcats last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Clifton lost to the Trojans at home by a decisive 45-28 margin on Friday. Clifton has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Clifton saw an underclassman step up: Avary Woosley scored 13 points.

Clifton's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 17-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for West, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season.

Clifton will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maypearl will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keene will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 703rd, while the Trojans are ranked 264th).
